The Roman Catholic cardinals have begun their secret conclave to elect a new pope, following the death of Pope Francis. In a ritual dating back to medieval times, the cardinals will file into the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel after a public Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica and start their search for a successor to Pope Francis, who died last month.
