As South Africa continues to make headlines over rising xenophobic tensions and reports of unrest in some communities, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has revisited a prophecy he says God revealed to him more than two years ago.
Speaking during a recent broadcasted service, Bushiri reflected on a warning he shared on January 1, 2024, concerning the future of South Africa. According to the preacher, some of the events he foresaw are now beginning to unfold, prompting him to revisit the message and call for prayer. Addressing the congregation, Bushiri said many people had dismissed prophetic warnings in the past, only to reconsider them when similar events began taking place.
“It’s just that people hate prophets. When it happened to us they thought we are just evil, but when it’s happening to other people they are realizing it’s xenophobia,” he said.
During the message, Bushiri expressed concern over recent incidents of violence and the growing hostility directed at foreign nationals. He emphasized that any demonstration that results in the loss of life cannot be regarded as peaceful and warned that the nation may be entering a difficult season if the current tensions are not addressed. The preacher reminded congregants that in his 2024 prophecy, he spoke of a time when social divisions would intensify, leading to unrest, destruction of property, and loss of life. He recalled seeing scenes of people marching through the streets while expressing hostility toward foreigners and warned that the situation could develop into something far more serious.
According to Bushiri, the danger is not limited to foreign nationals alone. He cautioned that unchecked division and hatred have the potential to spread beyond their original targets and affect society as a whole.
“This is not only about foreigners. After they chase foreigners, they will begin to fight one another,” Bushiri declared.
Despite the gravity of the warning, Bushiri concluded his message with a call for prayer rather than condemnation. He urged believers to pray for South Africa and stressed that the actions of a few individuals should not define an entire nation.
He noted that South Africa’s image has suffered internationally because of the actions of a small number of people, despite the fact that millions of South Africans continue to live peacefully and reject violence. The remarks have since generated widespread discussion across social media and Christian communities, with many debating whether current events reflect the unfolding of the prophecy first shared in 2024.
As conversations continue across the continent, Bushiri’s message has added another dimension to the ongoing discussion surrounding South Africa’s future, unity, and stability during a challenging period. Whether viewed as a prophetic warning, a call to prayer, or a reflection on current realities, the message has once again placed South Africa at the center of attention, with many hoping for peace, healing, and reconciliation in the days ahead.
