Apostle Joshua Selman and Dr. Abel Damina have engaged in a debate concerning whether Adam was the human being created by God or not, both representing different interpretations of the book of Genesis.
Apostle Joshua Selman’s Perspective
Apostle Selman claims that Adam was not the first man created, rather, the first one created in the image of God. He claims that the word ‘man’ referred to in Genesis 1:26 was a collective humanity created before Adam. Apostle Selman claims that there were people already in existence by the time Adam was created and this period was known as the pre-Adamic race. He states that Genesis 1:28 implies that the earth was previously inhabited and needed restoration suggesting a ‘A Pre-Adamic World’. To support his theory, Apostle Selman claims that Genesis:1-2 represents a previous age and that the word ‘replenish’ means that there was a ‘restoration’ that needed to be done which suggests a previous race. Apostle Selman’s perspective allows the body of Christ to challenge the conventional doctrine.

Dr. Abel Damina’s Perspective
However, Dr Abel Damina’s perspective opposes Apostle Selman’s view. He is fully convinced that Adam was the first human created by God. To support his claim, he states that Genesis 2:7 shows us that Adam was given life through God’s breath. He argues further that in Genesis 1:26, that the person being referenced to as ‘man’ was Adam himself, Dr Abel Damina states that the ‘us’ in the same scripture referenced the Trinity and not evidence of a prior creation race thus eliminating the existence of pre-Adamic race. He claims that introducing the pre-Adamic race confuses the body of Christ and lacks support from scripture

As the dust settles, the question remains :
Was Adam truly the first man? What are your thoughts on this?
